Families wait for word on their children in Haiti

January 14, 2010

There are an estimated one million orphaned children in Haiti.   In 2009, Haiti was the eighth most popular country with regard to international adoptions completed by Americans- 330 children were adopted.

There are many, many children waiting to be adopted.  There are families in the US already matched with their children, waiting to bring them home.

On Tuesday January 12, 2010, an earthquake registering over 7.0 destroyed much of Haiti’s infrastructure.

Many children have survived the earthquake but now face conditions that will put their health and safety at risk.  Some children have not survived.  And some families still await news on the fate of their children- the children they are eager to bring home.

Please keep these children and their families- birth and adoptive- in your thoughts.
